Mad about Mad Libs

While perusing the little children’s book shop around the corner today, I came across  Mad Libs. Suddenly I was like 10 years old sitting in the back seat of our old Pontiac squashed between my brother and sister on one of our family road trips. What fun we had making stories with Mad Libs on the road. The funny stories you would get when you added a  noun, verb, adverb or adjective to an empty line.

The purple kangaroo jiggled on the Brooklyn Bridge throwing dishes in an aquarium

The characters we created and the craziness they got into was endless fun. Of course the older we got and the more sophisticated our language became the greater stories we weaved.  Little did I know then what a great teaching tool they are to learn all those pesky adverbs and such. Shhh, don’t tell the kids.
